The objective of this study was to further the understanding of its potential application in industry by assessing whether it can be considered a Best Available Technique (BAT). Under Article 15 of the European Industrial Emissions Directive (2010/75/EU), BAT is to be given a more prominent role in the regulation of installations bound by its requirements. With this the need for operators to justify chosen technologies as BAT is enshrined in EU legislation.
