In spite of its growing prominence, only very little empirical literature exists on the socio-economic and socio-cultural implications of the festival. This is the major Fishing Festival along the West African Coast, and any attempt to achieve any meaningful development of the festival requires knowledge of the socio-economic and socio-cultural implications of the festival in all its ramifications. This book, therefore, provides empirical evidence of the economic and sociological significance of the festival.
