These effects were the results of perturbations in the brain activities of AChE and ATPase activities concomitant with agitated levels of several amino acids and monoamine neurotransmitters. Vitamin E curtailed some of the aluminium- induced physiological and behavioural perturbations, whereas vitamin E plus vitamin C, given together, almost completely ameliorated most of these disturbances. Based on the present results, administration of a combined dose of vitamin E and C to subjects at high risk of aluminium contamination is recommended as an ameliorative and protective measure against the neurobehavioural damage caused by aluminium.
