Over the last couple decades, extended research has been conducted to resolve questions about the Jurassic, a time when the Pangaea was split into new continents and the present Pacific plate was formed. However, the Pacific spreading recorded by the pre-M25 marine magnetic anomalies remained uncalibrated due to the incomplete magnetic polarity results from some Middle and Upper Jurassic outcrops. In addition, the paleolatitude and rotation of the European plate during this period remained uncertain due to sparse and insufficient paleomagnetic data.
