During recent years boron deficiency is causing concern due to the increased number of cases reported in several Indian soils, which were previously not reported to be deficient in boron. Boron is significant for yield and reproduction in crop plants due to its involvement in translocation of sugars from the source leaves to growing meristems and reproductive parts as metabolic sinks.
