Its tolerance factor against the network failures, convenience of set-up and manageability are one of its major advantages.Though WMNs are very similar to Mobile Ad Hoc Networks, the protocols designed for ad hoc perform very poor when applied in WMNs. The research has mainly focused on the evaluation of routing protocols to be used in WMNs.The purpose of studying and comparing these protocols in WMN environment is to propose that which protocol is more adaptive for WMNs and can be further optimized to exploit other salient features of this technology. The simulation and modelling for performance analysis of WMNs has been performed in OPNET for collecting precise data statistics in real time scenarios.
