Various management practices in the political, economic and social areas of human endeavours were in existence in most of the former British colonies before the advent of the British colonialists. This is because most of these former colonies were managing themselves politically, economically and socially before the British colonialists claimed to have ‘discovered’ them. For example the British colonialists replaced the Nigerian paternalistic employment relations system with their voluntarist employment relations system.
