This book is based on the thesis of Engineer Mohammed Esmail for his master of science at the faculty of engineering Mansuora University, Egypt. The near shore region is highly dynamic system when waves, currents, and bathymetry interact through a complex feed back mechanism in response to changing wave climates and sediment budgets The northern Egyptian coasts are subjected to many changes on shoreline balance due to waves and coastal currents. To protect and develop these coasts, many types of breakwaters have been constructed such as groins, seawalls, detached, submerged, and shore-connected breakwaters.
