This book gives an excellent procedure for optimizing a compact size, wideband microstrip patch antennas. The technique described in this book is based on using genetic algorithm to optimize the dimensions of a microstrip patch antenna having a ground plate with a special cut. The bandwidth achieved here is very attractive for mobile communication systems. Two software packages were used for this purpose, Matlab 2010 and the latest version of CTS microwave studio. Full description of the design and optimization procedures is given. Flow charts, Matlab codes and CST windows are disclosed for the reader. This book can be very useful for the interested researchers, postgraduates, as well as microwave designers.
