This is a problem arising from processing techniques. The very first process after harvesting of rice is threshing. This process is laborious and vital to the quality and quantity of the finer product. Over 90% of rice farmers in Africa employ the traditional technique with its characteristic low productivity, yet their large population as well as religious approach makes them the right target for a revolution in rice production, hence an efficient, portable indigenous thresher will definitely be a welcome relief and a production boost.
