Service life therefore relates to repair cycle of the element. Defining service life is somewhat ambiguous and confusion persists, as unlike living beings, clear cut demarcation event of death, that separates itself from the life, does not exist for structures. Service life of RC structures depends on number of factors starting from the material selection to construction techniques such as exposure environment, concrete material and quality.
