Considering the significance of water quality in water resource management, water quality studies are carried out in Belgaum city, where the scarcity of portable water is major problem, due to the population growth and urbanization. In spite of various measures taken by the authorities for the sustainable source of water supply to city; it is still not achieved due to one or other reasons. Water supplies from Hidakal reservoir, Rakkaskoppa reservoir and marginal development of groundwater have been takes place to meet the excess demand. Improper planning and management of water resources may end up with problems not only related with quantity, but also it may lead to quality problems.
