The research applied an empirical research design. The empirical research design was conducted with pensioners in the selected areas of the Eastern Cape (Bersheba, Bethelsdorp and Kwazakhele). Both qualitative and quantitative methods of research were used to obtain the views of pensioners concerning the socio-economic impact of old age pension in the lives of family members living together with them. A sample of 102 persons was interviewed. The majority of the respondents (90.43%) were looking financially after their households members.
