Children, particularly sons, have been taken as a security in old age. Ensuring protection, care and well-being to aged parents has been one of the primary roles of family system. However, in modern times, due to certain factors of social change, increasing number of older people are ‘living alone’. The mode of care for aged parents is changing and subtly new concept of ‘distance care’ or ‘caring from a distance’ is emerging.
