This book is a survey of selected themes in the Ndebele novel. It is the first exposition of this level on the Ndebele novel written in English. The book is intended for university level students of African, and Ndebele literature in particular. It is also a useful starting point for a foreigner that wants to study Ndebele literature. To this date, there has been no published treatise of the Ndebele novel of this kind written in English. The book focuses on three main themes, which are the Zimbabwe liberation struggle, women and the cultural conflict and how these are handled in the Ndebele novel. These themes were chosen on the basis of their currency and relevance in the socio-political discourse of Zimbabwe.
