There has been a growing body of literature examining the role that the tourism industry plays on the lives of women employees. These studies have tended to focus on women in Western countries and developing countries. Both positive and negative aspects of tourism employment have been addressed. However, there has been relatively little attention paid to the employment of Muslim women in the tourism industry in the Middle East, North Africa or the Arabian Peninsula.
