This research work provides knowledge on domestic violence. It recognizes domestic violence as a social problem existent in societies and as a human rights concern necessitating redress. Its predominance can largely be explained from a cultural perspective that points out the way in which many cultures have beliefs, norms and social institutions that legitimize and therefore perpetuate violence against women (CHANGE, 1999). Using both primary and secondary data, it provides factual information on the different forms domestic violence is manifested and adopts two theories in examining the psycho-socio stigma and isolation tendencies felt by women who have endured violence.
