As apple plays an important role in the economy of Himalayan people. Acute water shortage during critical growth stages has drastically affected the apple productivity. Erratic monsoon behaviour from last one decade further aggravates the problem. The results being declining apple production to almost 50 per cent during 2009-10 and about 30 per cent in 2012-13 (current year). This needs a water and nutrient management to sustain future apple production in the region.
