Apple growers using intensive planting systems such as “Guttingen V” and dwarfing rootstocks such as M.9 in order to increase yield and decrease production costs in developed countries. The using of these systems is new in Iran as a developing country. Thus new researches are needed to recognize the best systems and cultivars adapted to Iran’s climate conditions. In this research, 2 years old trees of five apple cultivars include “Golab-kohans” (as a local cultivar), and four foreign cultivars include “Gala”, “Starking, “Delbar estival’ and “Fuji” grafted onto M9 rootstock, were used in order to evaluate of some qualitative and quantitative characteristics of them on “Guttingen V” intensive planting system. Results showed that intensive training systems can be introduced in Iran’s climate for reducing the costs and increase the production. “Delbar estival” can be suggested to Iranian gardeners as a promising cultivar adapted to “Guttingen V” system in Iran.
