Using seawater in industrial cooling systems is commonly used in areas with scarcity of freshwater. However, biofouling is one of the major operational problems associated with this practice. A biocide is typically added to eliminate, or at least reduce, biofouling. The aim of this research work is to develop a systematic approach to the optimal operating and design alternatives for integrated industrial seawater cooling.
