 The present works related with the structural studies of some representative coal samples from various collieries of Makum coalfield, Assam with the help of X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier Transformation Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and chemical analysis. The XRD method includes the evaluation of function of radial distribution of atoms (FRDA). The evaluation of the carbon stacking layered structure of the coals from their X-ray diffraction patterns were done in this study. A systematic physico-chemical analysis of coal samples was also performed to have a better knowledge on structural aspects of the coals from this region. Laser induced fluorescence (LIF) study on the coals was also included. A comparative study on the structural properties of coal samples from different locations (collieries) was discussed in this work. The results obtained from this investigation will help in gaining an insight in to the structure of these coals for better understanding the potential...
