In the present context of “back to nature” in health care, it is essential and very urgent that valuable medicinal plant species should not only be preserved but their cultivation should also be undertaken on large scale, in order to meet the demand of domestic as well as export market. There is an urgent need to shift from collection to cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants to ensure purity, authenticity and sustainable supply of raw materials, required for herbal drugs, including polyherbals.
