The study included some of the major cereals, also taking into the account the minor crops and cash crops. Water footprints for the individual crops have been well calculated. The study enables us to assess the use of water not in a conventional way of water withdrawal but in terms of the water footprint which characterizes the use of water that does not return to its origin in a known time scale. The study compares the water footprint values obtained for the selected crops on regional basis, and the ones averaged globally for the same group of crops.
