This thesis outlines the toxic effects of three carbamate insecticides viz. Baygon, Carbofuran and Carbaryl on Hepatocytes, Lymphocytes and Spleenocytes In-Vitro. Both commercial formulations and technical grade insecticides have been used in this study and it was found that Carbaryl is more toxic to these cells. However Hepatocytes were not affected much, owing to their greater ability to detoxify carbamates. Osmotic fragility of RBC was also studied upon exposure to these carbamates In-Vitro and the results were the same wherein Carbaryl caused more hemolysis than the other carbamates. The prima fascia aim of this effort was to evaluate these carbamate insecticides as chemotherapeutic agents for cancer. Hence Squamous Cell Carcinoma was excised from the neck of a Bull and its cancerous nature confirmed by histopathological examination.
