Only six asiloid families are represented in Egypt and treated in the catalogue, namely: Asilidae, Bombyliidae, Mydidae, Mythicomyiidae, Scenopinidae, Therevidae. Data for the catalogue was gathered from specimens preserved in the Egyptian insect collections, in addition to specimens have been collected from different Egyptian localities, from 1991 to 2014, by the author. A great deal of information are also taken from literature and website databases.
