Platelets are central players in maintenance of hemostasis and blood clotting. They are highly sensitive cells exhibiting variety of functional responses depending on the stimulus. Platelets remain ‘hyperactive'' in thrombotic disorders like coronary artery diseases, stroke and diabetes mellitus playing a critical role in their pathogenesis.
