The majority endures in silence, unaware and uninformed as to what constitutes abuse and about the little help that is available. This quantitative, qualitative study was based on the information retrieved from 175 participants, using an instrument comprised of 32 multiple choice and open-ended questions designed by the researcher to establish the magnitude, severity, frequency and type of domestic abuse as experienced by women in the town of Cayambe, Ecuador.
