Poland and Germany are neighbouring countries. Nonetheless they are different in two ways: first, in terms of religiosity and the religious outcome and second, in terms of the abortion law. The author will show the different ways of influence, the discussion and the fight of the church for a ban on abortion in both countries in the 1990s. The hypothesis that the church in Poland had more influence than the church in Germany is also connected with the abortion issue. The reason for this hypothesis lies in the different abortion laws in Germany and Poland. Poland as a deeply religious country has a strict abortion law whereas Germany with a lower rate of religiosity has a liberal abortion law. The author will prove this hypothesis with the help of another disputed topic: the theory about secularization.
