It's a rather development approach aiming to uplift communities. The benefits it adds are the reputation of the organisation as the practice enhances one's corporate reputation and image and ultimately return on investment. In developing countries like South Africa, the practice is seen as fundamental because it brings transformation to the benefit of the needy. Besides, statistics suggest 48% of South Africans buy products and services from a company that has given back to society or that has merely got history with helping the disadvantaged communities. That is a demonstration of their corporate citizenship.
