Poverty has multiple manifestations. As billions are suffering in the cruel hands of abject poverty, the international community has been pursuing different development approaches aiming at addressing it. In the late 1990,the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund introduced a new development perspective called poverty reduction strategy paper (PRSP) to be prepared by the poorest countries themselves in consultation with all stakeholders particularly the poor themselves.Though there are a lot of changes both nationally and internationally,this book takes us back to early 2000 and assesses how Ethiopia formulated the national poverty strategy paper. After describing the process of preparing PRSP in Ethiopia, the paper focuses on how the national poverty strategy addressed the issue of food insecurity in Ethiopia.
