Oman has received a lot of academic interest due to its strategic position, but its relationship with Britain has not really been covered. Oman and Britain have a long-standing relationship which has changed over time. Now it would appear the relationship is diminished from the high involvement of the 1950s-1970s. This book analyses the relationship from the 1950s until the present day and considers how it has changed. It will use new forms of dependency theory – “Security Dependency” and “Voluntary Dependency” to explain the relationship arguing that up until Oman''s acquisition of full independent status in 1977 it was one of security dependency.
