This book contains information about cross-sectional study on Salmonella from food items and personnel from Addis Ababa supermarkets. Supermarket food items that included chicken carcass, minced beef, mutton, pork, cottage cheese, fish and ice cream as well as stool samples from personnel working around these foods were analyzed for Salmonella. Serotyping, phage typing and antimicrobial resistance pattern of confirmed isolates were done at Laboratory for Foodborne Zoonoses, Health Canada and at the Office International des Epizooties (OIE?) Reference Laboratory for Salmonellosis, in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. The study revealed that Salmonella serotypes are highly prevalent particularly in chicken carcass and pork. A total of 14 serotypes were detected. Salmonella Newport and Salmonella Kentucky were reported for the first time from Ethiopia.
