To examine the patterns of toothache and tooth extraction prescriptions was collected through prescription survey of various hospitals and clinics in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. 793 prescriptions were collected from 5 hospitals and 31 clinics of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The study confirms that quality of prescriptions, both in terms of layout and the content of the drugs prescribed, was inadequate in case of toothache and toothextaction. Also the study reflects the immediate urgency to develop a mechanism for dentists to ensure the subjects gets proper evidence based dentistry.
