The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of the herbal medicines used to treat patients who suffer from the type1 diabetes mellitus, to identify the common anti- diabetic herbs in use and to describe the processing methods used to extract the final product ofthese anti- diabetic herbs by the patients in Goma city. It was a longitudinal and prospective study of a cohort of 402 diabetic patients' men and women, aged 15 years and above, living in urban, semi- urban and rural areas of the Goma city in DRC.It requested information on body weight, BMI, Glycaemia and the Glycosylated Hemoglobin. The study conclude that there were no significant differences between the three groups in body weight loss or gain, body mass index, glycemic control, and HbA1c at the completion of the study. The study concludes that anti diabetic- herbs known in the literature to be effective in managing the type2 diabetes mellitus were not effective in managing the type1 diabetes mellitus.So, there is...
