Owino’s Theory of Nurse-Client Interactions for Childbirth Preparedness is analyzed and evaluated for the first time since its development in 2011. It describes the theory’s professional context by defining the metaparadigm concepts depicted. It shows how Owino’s theory converges with focused antenatal care (FANC) guidelines in key areas of childbirth preparedness, and further recognizes the unique and prohibitive rural context in which antenatal care takes place in rural Suba District of Nyanza Province in Kenya.
