The ideal goal of the modern dentistry is to restore the patient oral cavity to normal contour, function, comfort, esthetics, speech and health. All these goals can be achieved with dental implants. Platform switching is a concept where smaller-diameter prosthetic component is connected to a larger-diameter implant platform to create an 90 degree step between the implant and abutment which results in peri-implant hard tissue stability with soft tissue and papilla preservation.
