Some believe that some people have a mind for mathematics and some believe that mathematics can be taught. In some countries, learners do mathematics up to high school and in some countries they are diverted to tohers subjects as they are believed to not have the "brain" for math. This research attempts to study the factors that are related to performance in mathemaitics. The results indicates that performance in mathematics does not solely depend on the person, but there are other factors. These factors need serious attention if we are to strive for a wider access to educational careers.
