Over-emphasis on incarceration as means of correction of children, trying the children offenders by traditional criminal courts, dearth of well-intentioned rehabilitative interventions are major failures to initiate a rights-oriented juvenile justice system in Bangladesh. Against this backdrop, this book makes an attempt to explore the present conditions of treatment of juvenile offenders and suggests non-custodial sanctions to make it child-rights focused more likely.
