This paper reviews some important Multilateral Environmental Treaties and how they can be effectively implemented in African countries. Using Ghana as a case study,The paper reviews the state of the Environment in Ghana, then the author explore environmental policies in Ghana after colonialism and the policies it adopted after the United Nations Conference on Human Environment, also known as the Stockholm Convention in 1972. This conference was organized after concerns were raised about the state of the human environment in the early 70s. After this and subsequent conferences there after, Ghana become signatories to numerous treaties including the United Nation Convention on the Law of the Sea, Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora,Convention on Wetland of International Importance Especially as Waterfowls Habitat and The Convention on Climate Change.
