The primary goal of this research was to formulate appropriate environmental management options of the medical waste for developing countries. Specific objectives of the study were to (1) review the current status of hospital waste management; (2) compare the management techniques and practices;(3) determine the effectiveness of infectious waste handling and disposal by testing pathogens; and (4) recommend appropriate management options for medical waste, in developing country specifically in Thailand and Bangladesh. Study conducted mainly 2 cities in Bangladesh and 2 cities in Thailand. Data and information were collected from March 2000 to March 2001. Overall analysis showed the evidence of a lack of proper attention given by the authority. There were other constraints also identified from the study.
