Successful periodontal therapy requires a proper and accurate diagnosis. Radiography is a valuable aid in the diagnosis of periodontal disease, determination of prognosis and evaluation of treatment outcome. However, the radiograph is an adjunct to clinical examination, not a substitute for it.
