Angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are drugs which are widely being prescribed for patients of hypertension, myocardial infarction, congestive cardiac failure, etc. These ailments are commonly found in older adults in whom, other conditions like atherosclerosis, etc., which have a potential inflammatory component in their etiopathogenesis, usually coexist. As a result, there has been an increasing interest in research showing effects of these compounds on inflammation. Although there have been several relevant studies in the past, there are conflicting and inconclusive reports on the same.
