These special word patterns and rhythmic structures embedded in a text are seen as signs in semiotic perspective, which poets employ in creating meanings. With the application of socio-semiotic theory in analyzing the works of four Yoruba poets, this book has helped to establish the manner in which poetic discourses are systematically produced within the contextual variables of situation and culture.
