This study aims to investigate the use of language learning strategies among Arab postgraduate students at the National University of Malaysia (UKM) based on gender and motivation. This research was undertaken to find answers to the problem that exists among EFL Arab postgraduates who were aware of language learning strategies for writing but they did not know how to use them for learning. Quantitative data were collected using questionnaire where measures of the questionnaire items were drawn from O'Malley et al.’s taxonomy of language learning strategies for writing. The rest of the items covered students’ motivational intensity towards learning writing in English as a Foreign Language (FL).
