Contemporary discourses on social exclusion in India are largely centered on historically marginalized sections of Indian society, such as dalits, tribes, women, religious, linguistic and sexual minorities. Whereas children, elderly, mentally ill persons and their caregivers, who are in fact, a cross cutting category across all sections of Indian populations, are largely ignored in the mainstream discourses on social exclusion and inclusive policy making decisions.
