This book is a product of a research work done in thearea of reading comprehension. The objective was tofind out if teaching text structure awareness tostudents could enhance comprehension. Researchevidence has shown that teaching text structureawareness to students who used English as their firstlanguage enhanced performance. This study replicatedthese strategies with students who use English as asecond language. This was necessary looking at thedifficulty such students have getting informationfrom textbooks. Recent WAEC and other externalexaminations has prompted the need to help studentsinteract with content material. The study used seniorsecondary school students in two states of Nigeria.The research used the Solomon-four experimentaldesign to carry out its findings. All testingmaterials were tested on a pilot study.
