This book is completely based on the thesis of the author''s graduate study, which was completed in September, 2009. The overall intention of the study was investigating the teacher education phenomenon of mathematics teacher education through the perspectives of teacher educators. It was designed to understand the problems and the needs of teacher education in Turkey, to conceive the imperatives of the reforms mathematics teacher education reforms, namely 1982 reform, 1998 reform, and 2006 reform, and to determine whether these reforms satisfy the existing needs in Turkey. The findings of the study showed that mathematics teacher education took a great step after establishing education faculties under universities in 1982. However, it has to be improved in order to eliminate the problems and the needs of teacher education in Turkey.
