As a result of self and international pressure arising out of the need to increase human capital and the EFA commitments made in UN meetings respectively, Kenya has taken some steps to improve education access. However, due to their mobile lifestyle, nomads have not been accessing these ‘static' social amenities such as formal education and health nor have these services been availed within their mobile setting. Currently, nomads can only access formal education by settling permanently, taking their children to boarding schools, or placing the children under the care of a relative in the settled lifestyle.
