Paulo Freire's "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" evoked my vision about the very essence of education; I thought that Freire spoke to our hearts and souls by portraying the true picture of education not only in my country but in most developing countries. The Brazilian reformer railed against transmission the banking model of education; he expressed conviction that such education was a political ploy to keep the downtrodden in their place. Adding to Freire's ideology that will result in provoking students' minds, character education and instilling civic values in a country's youth will liberate their hearts as well.
