This book explores the ways in which drama can be used as a teaching tool for English as a second language (ESL). In using dramatic activities to explore the communication and social interactive side of English language development, a curriculum, with five units of instruction, is offered. The curriculum combines elements of linguistics, second language acquisition, and dramatic practices towards the interactions ESL learners experience in the classroom. By giving language learners situational experiences in the classroom that mirror real-life scenarios - situations that are common outside of a controlled classroom setting - learners participating in this curriculum can be expected to develop formative English language skills that can be used for a variety of purposes; ultimately internalizing the new language for long-term purposes
